Surgeries performed in the office

Oral surgery is a very broad discipline including all surgical treatments of the mouth, of dental origin or not. Dental extraction, particularly wisdom teeth, implant placement and bone grafting are carried out in the office. We network with oral surgery specialists for other more advanced procedures such as sinus grafting or complex wisdom tooth extraction cases.

Extraction of wisdom teeth

Are you suffering from your wisdom teeth? We carry out a careful check to determine whether extraction is indicated and whether it is a simple or complex case. In simple cases, the extraction is carried out under local anesthesia in the office.

If the case is complex, it is entrusted to an oral surgery specialist. The same goes for so-called ectopic teeth (poorly positioned) or impacted canines, the treatment of which will be entrusted to a specialist in orthodontics or oral surgery.

Implant placement (implantology)

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is an artificial titanium root made from a strong, biocompatible material, which is screwed into the jawbone at the site of the lost tooth. Once placed, the implant allows the installation of a prosthesis (single crown or bridge).

The success rate of implant placement is very high (around 95%). It is a lasting solution, but which nevertheless requires good daily dental hygiene, stopping smoking if possible, and the use of interdental brushes for maximum lifespan.

Why get an implant?

The placement of an implant aims to replace a tooth while preserving adjacent teeth. The alternative is a bridge supported by adjacent healthy teeth, but this requires their size.

Like a healthy tooth, the implant helps preserve the jaw bone which tends to resorb in the absence of a tooth.

In the case of several missing teeth, the implant allows the installation of comfortable fixed prostheses.

How does the placement of an implant take place?

Placing an implant is a multi-step process necessary for good healing and an optimal result. Throughout this process, the patient will have a temporary bridge fitted which will allow them to maintain their smile.

An initial consultation is necessary before beginning the process. During this consultation, the dentist obviously discusses with the patient the different possible options, their advantages, disadvantages and possible risks.

He ensures that there are no contraindications to implant placement in the patient, and verifies that the quality of the bone and its anatomy allows it to accommodate an implant. To do this, the dentist performs 3-dimensional imaging of the patient's teeth.

The process begins with implantation into the bone and placement of the healing abutment. This surgical procedure takes place under local anesthesia and generally causes little pain.

After about 3 months, the screw is replaced by a pillar and an impression is taken to make the prosthesis. Once manufactured, the prosthesis is then temporarily glued to allow some adjustments, then finally glued.

Our expertise

Dr Laurent Seguy is a specialist in implantology and has extensive experience in this area. The prostheses are manufactured either on site using computer assistance and our machining unit, or in the laboratory by talented prosthetists.

Bone grafting

When the volume of the jaw bone is insufficient to allow the placement of an implant, even though the latter would be the best alternative for the patient, a bone graft can be performed. The graft restores it to a satisfactory width and height.

Carried out under local anesthesia, the bone graft is generally painless. A graft is placed where there is insufficient bone. You must then wait several months for natural bone to replace the graft and for an implant to be placed. There are 3 types of dental bone graft: synthetic graft, autogenous graft and allogeneic graft. Your dentist will give you more information on the different options.
